Boral Roof Tile Warranty: Who Handles It Now?

If your home has Boral concrete or clay roof tile, you may be wondering where your warranty went. Here's what changed, what a tile warranty actually covers, and what to do if your Boral tile roof is leaking.

Boral roof tile is now Westlake Royal

Boral's North American roofing business became part of Westlake Royal Building Products, and the brands were renamed in early 2022:

  • Boral Concrete Roofing Tile is now Newpoint Concrete Tile Roofing.
  • US Tile by Boral (clay tile) is now US Tile.
  • Boral Steel stone-coated roofing is now Unified Steel.
  • Boral Roof System Components are now Westlake Royal Roofing Components.

So if you have a Boral tile roof, warranty questions now go to Westlake Royal. Their website has a Warranty & Registration section, and you can find it from their roofing site.

What a roof tile warranty usually covers

Every warranty is different, and the terms depend on the product and the year it was installed, so read your own document. In general, a manufacturer's tile warranty covers manufacturing defects in the tile itself. It typically does not cover:

  • Storm damage. Tiles broken by a hurricane or flying debris are usually an insurance claim, not a warranty claim.
  • Installation problems, which fall on the roofer who installed it (check their workmanship warranty).
  • The underlayment under the tile, unless it was part of a separate system warranty.
  • Damage from people walking on the roof, satellite installs or other trades.

Why most "Boral tile" leaks aren't the tile

Concrete and clay tiles can last for decades. On a South Florida tile roof that's 20 to 30 years old, the leak almost always comes from the underlayment beneath the tile, which dries out and cracks with age, or from flashing at walls, valleys and penetrations. The tiles can look perfect from the street while the waterproofing underneath has failed. That's not something a tile warranty covers. Why underlayment matters →

How to find your Boral warranty

  1. Check your closing documents or the paperwork from the roofer who installed the roof.
  2. Look up your re-roof permit with your city or county building department. It shows the install date and often the product and its NOA.
  3. Find a spare tile in the garage or attic. The back may show the manufacturer and plant.
  4. Contact Westlake Royal with the install date, address and photos.

Leaking Boral tile roof? What we do

We inspect the roof and attic, photograph what we find, and tell you honestly whether it's a warranty issue, an insurance issue, or a roof at the end of its underlayment life. If it can be repaired, we'll repair it, often re-using your existing tiles. If it needs replacing, we can match a similar profile and color in current Westlake Royal concrete tile or switch to clay or metal. Tile roofing · roof repairs
