What's different about a high-end roof
- The roof is part of the architecture. Tile profile, color blend, ridge and hip details, and how the roof meets towers, parapets and loggias all show from the street.
- Approvals come first. Many luxury neighborhoods have architectural review boards, HOA design rules or historic guidelines that decide what can go on the roof.
- The property has to be protected. Pavers, pools, landscaping, outdoor kitchens and neighbors a few feet away.
- It has to be built for the coast. Salt air, flying debris and High-Velocity Hurricane Zone wind loads.
Roof systems we install on luxury homes
- Clay barrel tile: the classic Mediterranean and Spanish Revival look, with color that doesn't fade.
- Premium concrete tile: flat, S-tile and barrel profiles in designer color blends. Tile roofing →
- Standing seam metal: clean modern lines for contemporary and waterfront homes.
- Flat and low-slope roofs over terraces, additions and modern flat-roof designs. Flat roofing →
Every system uses products with a current Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) or Florida Product Approval, installed the way they were tested. What that means →

Neighborhoods we work in
Coral Gables
Coral Gables reviews roof changes through its Board of Architects, and many homes are expected to keep the city's Mediterranean look, often clay or concrete barrel tile in approved colors. Changing roof material or color usually means a submittal before the building permit, so it pays to plan ahead. Always confirm the current rules with the city. Roofing in Coral Gables →
Pinecrest & Palmetto Bay
Large lots, big hip roofs, mature trees over the roof line and a lot of tile. Tree debris and shaded, damp roof sections make underlayment and flashing details matter. Pinecrest → · Palmetto Bay →
Key Biscayne
Island homes take constant salt spray. Fastener and metal choices matter here: Florida's new building code (9th edition), taking effect at the end of 2026, adds stricter corrosion-resistance rules for fasteners near the coast. We plan materials for salt exposure from the start. Key Biscayne →
Golden Beach, Indian Creek, Bal Harbour & Bay Harbor
Oceanfront and waterfront estates where the roof is exposed to the strongest winds and salt. Staging, deliveries and noise often need to be coordinated with the town or HOA. Golden Beach → · Indian Creek → · Bal Harbour → · Bay Harbor Islands →
Miami Beach & Sunny Isles Beach
Waterfront homes on tight lots, historic districts in parts of Miami Beach, and plenty of modern flat and metal roofs. Miami Beach → · Sunny Isles Beach →
Southwest Ranches, Weston & Parkland
Estate lots and big custom homes in Broward, often with tile roofs and detached structures like guest houses and barns. Southwest Ranches → · Weston → · Parkland →

Luxury & Estate Roofing FAQ
Do you work with architects and HOA boards?
Yes. We can work directly with your architect, builder, property manager or HOA, and we prepare the product information and documents they need for review.
Can you match the tile on my existing home or neighborhood?
Often, yes. We bring manufacturer color charts and samples, and we can look for a tile profile and color blend that matches your home or your HOA's approved list.
How long does a luxury re-roof take?
The roofing itself usually takes a few weeks depending on size and material. Approvals can add time, especially where an architectural board or HOA has to review the roof first, so we plan the schedule with you at the start.
Is Big Al himself involved?
Yes. Big Al's is owner-operated. Alvaro Hernandez meets customers and checks the work himself.
